Claude Monet

Claude Monet (1840–1926) was a French painter and the founding figure of Impressionism — a movement that takes its very name from his painting Impression, Sunrise. Born in Paris and later settled in Giverny, he was celebrated for capturing light and atmosphere en plein air. His iconic series include Water Lilies, Haystacks, and Rouen Cathedral.
