Herbert Bayer (1900–1985) was an Austrian-born artist, designer, and architect who helped define the visual identity of the Bauhaus. Serving as its master of typography and advertising from 1925 to 1928, he later emigrated to the United States in 1938, where he translated Bauhaus modernism into American corporate and environmental design, working with the Container Corporation of America and the Aspen Institute.
