Sandro Botticelli (c. 1445–1510) was an Italian painter of the Early Renaissance, born in Florence under the patronage of the powerful Medici family. Celebrated for his graceful figures and mythological narratives, he created two of the most recognised paintings in Western art — The Birth of Venus and Primavera — works that continue to define the beauty and humanism of the Renaissance.
