Standing at the heart of Jordan's only coastal city, Aqaba Fort — also known as Mamluk Castle — has guarded the northern tip of the Red Sea since the early 14th century. Built by the Mamluks and later expanded by the Ottomans, the fort played a pivotal role in the Arab Revolt of 1917, when T.E. Lawrence and Emir Faisal's forces famously captured it from Ottoman control. Its distinctive crenellated walls, arched gateway, and Hashemite coat of arms make it one of Jordan's most photographed historic landmarks. Coordinates: 29.5157° N, 35.0007° E.
