Danakil Depression - Ethiopia - Travel Art Wall Deco Poster | Modern Art Style
The Danakil Depression forms part of the Afar Triangle in north-eastern Ethiopia, where three tectonic rifts meet. Much of the landscape lies below sea level and includes salt flats, lava fields, hydrothermal areas and active volcanoes such as Erta Ale. Lake Karum sits around 116 metres below sea level, surrounded by thick salt deposits traditionally cut into blocks and transported by Afar camel caravans. Temperatures regularly exceed 40°C, making this one of the world’s hottest regions. Coordinates: 14.0000° N, 40.5000° E.
