Karak Castle - Levant - Jordan - Travel Art Wall Deco Poster
Stand in the shadow of Crusader might with this dramatic Karak Castle travel art wall décor poster. Perched atop a rocky promontory in the highlands of central Jordan, Karak Castle is one of the largest and most formidable Crusader fortresses in the Levant. Built by the Crusaders in 1142 under Pagan the Butler, it served as the capital of the Lordship of Oultrejordain and became infamous under the brutal reign of Raynald of Châtillon, whose provocations helped ignite Saladin’s decisive campaigns. Saladin himself besieged and captured the castle in 1188, and it later passed through Ayyubid and Mamluk hands, each leaving their architectural mark on its labyrinthine corridors and vaulted halls.
