Standing 120 metres tall — including its 10-metre lotus base and 10-metre base platform — the Ushiku Daibutsu in Ibaraki Prefecture was the world's tallest statue from 1993 to 2002. This magnificent bronze Amitabha Buddha, completed in 1993, houses a four-storey interior with observation decks and a serene garden of 100,000 tulips surrounding its base.
